Ep. 462 – Home Alone for the SNES

It’s Christmas in July here at TADPOG Blanket Fort, and that can only mean one thing…we’re talking about Christmas Daze for the Super Nintendo! No no no, we’ve already done that…we’re talking about Home Alone for the SNES by request of Bovine Bear Matt Cowan. We do talk about the action platformer by Imagineering, but we also take a Macaulay Culkin movie quiz, and listen to a few voicemails.

Ep. 461 – Paperboy

This week we’re hopping on our bikes, pedaling down Easy Street, and unleashing some good old-fashioned wanton destruction. That’s right! We’re talking about Paperboy for the NES. A wild Randy Holland (of being Tyler’s dad fame) appears! Yes, Randy makes a surprise appearance and joins us as we take a wildly “dad inappropriate” quiz from listener Ross Rachel Green. We show off our brand new bumper that we don’t know how to use, courtesy of Duke Sithtoast. Finally, we wrap things up by playing some listener voicemail.

Ep. 460 – Kung Fu

This week we scale five floors of the Devil’s Temple and punch our way through hoards of vest-wearing minions in order to talk about Kung Fu, the 1984 side-scrolling beat ’em up for the NES. We also talk about Tyler’s birthday, Jerry Stiller (of course), marriage, and bidets. We open a package from Sandwich Pope Phil and we play a few listener voicemails.

Ep. 459 – Wall Street Kid

Here at TADPOG Podcast, we intend to use it before we lose it. That’s right! We’re talking about the classic tycoon strategy game for the NES: Wall Street Kid. Published in 1990 by SOFEL (Simon or Fred Eat Licorice—subscribe on iTunes and Stitcher). Choco Chica joins us to eat the rest of Blumpkin Bear’s package. We take some calls. Dinosaur Talk. Ep. 458 – Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon

You like that sweet Gothic Action Platformer talk that we do oh-so often when we talk about Castlevania? We have more when we discuss the new retro style offering, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. But of course we also have to talk about The Hardy Boys and how Frank and Joe Hardy should influence “classic TADPOG” episode art. Did someone say Frasier Call of Cthulhu? Of course we cover that. We open a package from Mastermold Mike, Tyler issues a Spin-Off quiz, and we wrap it all up with a dramatic reading.

Ep. 457 – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)

We plunge into the murky poo-poo water beneath the Big Apple long enough to talk about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES. Yes, that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles—freaks on fire, April showing her support, electric seaweed! We open a package from Listener Sean. Yes, we make TMNT parallels to Frasier as well as Friends.

Ep. 456 – Final Fantasy XI (Part 2)

You know we had to do an Electric Boogaloo for FFXI! So Miller is back with for more Final Fantasy XI talk. Dave’s Old Wendy’s Nemesis rears his head once again.  Tyler returns from Disney World having learned more of life’s lessons. Drew from For the Love of Indie gives us a very nice package. Incredibly Tough Trousers Monster (It’ll make sense after you listen). If you liked the break down from last episode of FFXI, then you’ll definitely enjoy us finishing up this two part episode.

Ep. 455 – Final Fantasy XI

Put your party flag up because this week we are talking about Final Fantasy XI, the 2002 MMORPG by Square. We have wanted to do an episode on this game for a long time and we are joined by our resident MMOlogist, Shawn Miller of #MoreMiller fame. All three of us played Final Fantasy XI at its height and in this episode we barely scratch the surface of this immense game, but we do have a lot of fun reminiscing about our time spent in Vana’diel. We open a new package full of treats from listeners Bunny and Kira. We tell stories about our gross early apartments. Dave contributes to the stray cat population epidemic. And perhaps most notable for TADPOG Lore Masters, He Who Shall Not Be Named…is named. We had so much fun recording this one that we would like to continue it some day; we hope you enjoy.

Ep. 454 – Abobo’s Big Adventure

This week we channel our rage in the form of rippling muscle and talk about Abobo’s Big Adventure between bouts of uncontrollable “fury shrieks”. Ah, now that’s what I call podcasting! We can’t help but make comparisons to Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden. We also open a mysterious package from a mysterious listener.

Ep. 453 – Tsuppari Ozumo

We strap on our respective mawashis to talk about Tsuppari Ozumo, the 1987 sumo wrestling game developed and published by Tecmo for the Nintendo Famicom. So…why are we covering this game? Well. We’re done talking about the games on the NES Classic, and this one is on the Famicom Mini (also Dave really wanted to play it). If you’ve been listening to the show for a while you know that we aren’t exactly what you would call “sports experts” but maybe Tsuppari Ozumo is the game that converts us. Maybe from this point forward we become real big Sumoheads. At the very least, we discuss the game. We open a package from Trash Bear.
