Ep. 451 – The Legend of Zelda

Welp. We did it. We’ve reached the end of another list. We’ve already done an episode on Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, so this episode concludes our NES Classic series. And it is a loooong episode! Josh (of Uniracers fame) and Brandon (of being Tyler’s childhood friend fame) join us to talk about this Nintendo classic: The Legend of Zelda. There’s some game talk. But there’s also a church basement story. Tyler gets pretty drunk and we open a package from Edge Lord Kyle.

Ep. 450 – A Boy and His Blob

We don’t talk about this a lot because of the stigma that surrounds blob ownership…but we have a blob in the studio. It’s true. A couple of months ago we scraped together enough money from Patreon (thank you donors) to order our very own blob. Once a week we feed our blob a sriracha-flavored jelly bean, and he transforms into a pair of microphones and then we say dirty words into him. On a completely unrelated side-note: on this week’s episode we’re talking about David Crane’s A Boy and His Blob: Trouble in Blobolonia for the NES. We take a Which Jelly Bean Are You personality quiz? Tyler issues a jelly trivia quiz. We take a voicemail from longtime listener Fred.

Ep. 449 – Tecmo Bowl

Are you ready for some foooootball? We are!…or not? Either way, we strap on our helmets for this episode and talk about Tecmo Bowl for the NES. If you’re a longtime listener of our podcast, you know that sports games aren’t really our strong suit. That’s okay. We’re calling an audible (that’s a football thing, right?) and we’re bringing Time Lord Josh Edwards onto the field to lend us his gridiron know-how. Tyler issues a sports pop quiz, and we take a voicemail from Edge Lord Kyle about his personal experience with the game.

Ep. 448 – Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins

What do we do on this episode? Tyler’s Adventure in Dream Land ends with the most special chicken, Dave gets a Steam Link, Tyler plays a mobile game and goes to Graceland and we both dive into Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins for the Game Boy.

Hot off the heels (hot on the heels?…whichever) of Mario Is Missing! We’re talking about the next Radical Entertainment and The Software Toolworks jam: Mario’s Time Machine. Ah, Mario’s Time Machine. It most certainly is a game. Thanks to Mastermold Mike Lanham for a surprise gift. DAVE WORD SLAMS HIS BOSS! We discuss the kind of person who works out in jeans, we talk about fake breasts, we recall what it was like to make our moms cry for the first time, and we pitch the Summer 2018 NES Classic. Tyler didn’t make any notes for this episode, so you know how good this one is going to be.

Start ropics? Startropical Capricorn? STARTROPICS! That’s what we are doing for this week’s rundown of the games on the NES Classic, as brought to you by Mastermold Mike. Are you super thirsty for all that StarTropic goodness? Well, don’t be. It is a very long walk through hobos asking for money and Brandon of Axelay fame calling you a skank before we get there. Really, we do talk about the game but not for about 40 minutes. So don’t say we didn’t warn you, but it’s totally worth it to take that journey with us.
