The date is August 6, 1977. Donna Jackson, Brock Malone and Alex “Chili Dog” Peterson wake up and deal with the aftermath of the supernatural night before. Will Malone arrest his two criminal companions? Who murdered Gentle G? How does Dianetics tie in? What clues do the three misfit investigators uncover? Ep. 402 – Call of Cthulhu (Actual Play Part 2)

The events in this recording occurred on August 5, 1977 in New York City. Three strangers were dragged together into the roiling chaos of a city pushed to the edge by the Son of Sam. Nicole is playing the role of the cunning Donna Jackson, who is living on the wrong side of the law. Josh is playing Brock Malone, the tough as nails New York City detective. Dave returns as Alex “Chili Dog” Peterson, the drummer turned karate instructor. We are dreadfully delighted to present Tyler’s second session of our Call of Cthulhu Actual Play.

Ep. 401 – Call of Cthulhu (Actual Play Part 1)

It has been a little over a year since we have recorded an actual play of a tabletop role-playing game. So! We got the band back together. That’s right, baby! TADPOG Sweethearts Josh and Nicole Nance join us to roll up some investigators for a Call of Cthulhu Actual Play entitled “August 5th, 1977”. It’s an original story by Tyler so it’s kind of a big deal. It has been awhile since any of us have played Call of Cthulhu—so we spend some time shaking off the rust—but we assure you that characters get created.

Ep. 400 – Manhunt

We’re celebrating our 400th podcast episode this week by talking about Manhunt (kind of), the stealth-based survival horror PlayStation 2 game by Rockstar Games. Stand-up comedian Jorge Machean and Wizened Sage Ian join us to help talk about New Zealand’s favorite game. We do a lot of other stuff too! We open a package from Kana Ha, we try cursed Nutela, Dave administers a hunt-themed quiz, we talk about television and we just end up talking about murder a lot.

Ep. 399 – RIP All Calls

Princess Consuela Banana Hammock Virginity Thief Taryn joins us for our final all calls show (let’s face it, probably not). We are answering voicemail from October and November 2016. Yep. We clear up some confusion about the origin of Dead Souls and Yetis and probably create more confusion in the process of explaining. We receive a gift from Mastermold Mike! We talk about dreams! We write a Skittles commercial. We talk about Football, BBQ and Jesus. And Taryn hears a voicemail that she forgot she left.

Ep. 398 – Ballz

Because absolutely no one asked for it…we’re talking about Ballz on this episode of the podcast! That’s right, Ballz — the 1994 fighting game for the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis developed by PF Magic. Spoilers: We didn’t like it much! We take breaks from administering smackies long enough to discuss Dead Souls and Yetis, talk about some Netflix shows, and answer some listener voicemail too.

Ep. 397 – The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages

It’s been a long time since we’ve talked about a Game Boy Color game on the podcast…some might say it’s been ages! (Pause for laughter). Anyway, we’re actually talking about two Game Boy Color games from a little-known indie series called The Legend of Zelda (you probably haven’t heard of it). Yes, that’s right. We’re talking about Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages, each developed by Flagship (Capcom) and published by Nintendo in 2001. We also open a package from Trashbear Joe Willard, a wedding invitation, and a package from Mastermold Mike. We take some voicemail, we bestow a new title and we struggle to come up with a kangaroo cereal mascot.

Ep. 396 – QuackShot

On this episode of the podcast, we return to Duckburg to talk about QuackShot, the 1991 Sega Genesis platformer developed and published by Sega. QuackShot (starring Donald Duck) has been on Dave’s “List of Games to Play” for a couple of years now. Was it worth the wait? We open a couple of packages while we wait for the answer of that question. We also answer some listener voicemail. Perhaps most importantly, we debate the following superhero deathmatches: Batman vs the Ninja Turtles and Goku vs Superman.

Ep. 395 – Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure

This week we’re talking about Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure for the Sega Genesis. We asked the biggest Boogerman fan we know, Ryan (of being Tyler’s Brother fame), to join us on this episode. Something weird happened to Galen so we end up calling Jacob to get the scoop. We announce the winner of the River City Ransom: Underground give away, and pick some listeners at random to win local Tater Day Festival shirts! We open two wonderful packages sent to us by anonymous listeners which naturally leads to us doing a Golden Girls Mad Lib.

BARF! This week we’re talking about River City Ransom: Underground by Conatus Creative, the new follow-up to the 1989 NES cult-classic River City Ransom. Of course you remember that Blake joined us to talk about the original River City Ransom way back in 2015 (Episode 184 for those keeping score at home). Here at TADPOG we strongly believe in tradition as long as it’s cheap and convenient. So…good news, everyone (spoken in the best Professor Farnsworth impression we can muster)! We asked Oathbreaker Blake Woods to join us on this episode. Rhythm Master Paul Corn enters the fray as a new challenger who tells a poop story.
